Hotel Villa Erlenbad

This hotel and its restaurant are sublime. The location is quiet and picturesque, with wonderful gardens to view and walk around. The staff are welcoming and caring about your needs. I found them friendly with a helpful attitude. The room is large and well appointed. Anything needed is available easily on request. My view from the room was wonderful over the gardens in the daytime and the dark unspoilt night sky later on. In the close distance to the hotel is the forest and then the mountains behind that, with a quaint town combining classic and Modernist German architecture. What lifts the experience even further is the restaurant. It's a meat eater's paradise and all locally reared. In my first day I had lunch and dinner, with helpful guidance for my choices. The lunch of pasta, ricota and pork does not do it justice at all, with high quality coffee, bread and accompanients too. My evening dinner was even more impressive. In theory it is just a burger and fries, but the burger is locally reared steak that just holds together, the fries are hand made, the ketchup was made on premise. With more homemade bread, an uncharged for amuse bouche of soft lamb and vegetables plus a draft Muinch white beer. This is a burger meal at its peak, cooked at the level of fine food but without any fuss or hipster image. The restaurant has been open for a year and is worth visiting on its own for sure. But why hurry? The well appointed rooms upstairs call to you, relax a while, sit in the seats in the corridors and take in the view. Soon it will be time for the next meal, you can stay a little longer surely? In all seriousness, places like this deserve our support. It has been open a year and doing what they do is hard. This is not a chain, it's a small team dedicating themselves to our comfort and food. I'll be back on business and always return here. Do come along and enjoy it yourself... you may find me gurgling quietly in appreciation, loosening my belt in the corner and dreaming of breakfast.
