Hotel im Bunker

Having read many reviews I felt assured that the room would be perfect but had some worries that my booking hadn't gone through so I emailed the property a couple of times in advance to make sure all was ok and to see if we could check in exactly at 1pm as stated on the site. Communication wasn't prompt and we didn't receive the access codes until nearly 1pm on the day, which wasn't ideal as we were already in Munich and looking forward to dropping our bags off and returning into town, and they also requested more time to get ready before we arrived but check-in using the codes was absolutely straightforward and the room was simply excellent. I'd give all aspects of the accommodation 5 stars, only the slight lack of communication was a little unsettling. Once we were in, it was wonderful - pure luxury and a welcome oasis. The building works going on outside might be a problem during the week but they're due to finish mid-June 19 so the area outside will be cleared. I imagine it would be a problem if you had a car but as we were travelling by train it couldn't have been easier - the train station is 80m from the hotel and the train is straight into Hbhof. This place was exceptional and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Once the building works have finished - I think it's a commercial district plus housing - it will be much busier but can't see it having an adverse effect on the bunker. The addition of a kitchenette was so helpful - we bought in breakfast and snacks and could chill our drinks to enjoy on the terrace. It's so well served too - there's an Aldi 5 minutes away plus one of the best Bavarian restaurants in Munich nearby (it was closed when we visited in May but due to open in high season). There's also a Vietnamese takeaway, a bakery and an Italian restaurant within 5 minutes walk. Can't recommend Hotel im Bunker enough, it was a little slice of luxury a short trip outside the beautiful city of Munich.
