Sankt Maximilian

Our one Friday nite stay was excellent in late Aug 2023, blessed with nice weather and an excellent hostess Frau Kalles. She checked us in, gave us a personal tour of the facilities (outside, downstairs and upstairs) and showed us to our air conditioned room number 8. She made us feel welcome. In the morning she also escorted us to our table and checked on us frequently. We cannot say enough kind things abut her. Secluded on-site parking was good and included in the room price as was the plentiful breakfast. For us, the only thing lacking was a glass of Sekt or two! We particularly enjoyed the salmon slices and eggs to order. On our floor by the breakfast area was a refrigerator stocked with beverages and we marked on a form what we drank and paid for it later. Nice honor system touch. Wine packages were also available to purchase beside the frig. We found the wines good but more expensive than similar quality wines in the Ruedesheim am Rhein area. Our room was large, very clean and provided a view of the mountainous vineyards nearby. I would suggest adding a mini-refrigerator in the room. We found the wood-looking polished flooring particularly attractive. Nice job on all the wood work, tasteful decor and so on. Restaurants and shops, including grocery stores, were in easy walking distance. More were available by crossing the bridge over the Mosel River into Bernkastel. From there you can see and visit the near by Landshut Schloss or Burg Kastel, built in the late 12th or early 13th centuries. I would recommend the trolley otherwise it's a long uphill trek! The area was beautiful and worth a trip. River sight-seeing ship cruises were also available but we stayed ashore. Highly recommend the area and the hotel too! We will be back and stay longer!
