Bella Casa

We vere travelling in a group and stayed in three sperate rooms at the Bella Casa from June 21 to June 26, 2012. All rooms were on the ground floor; mine was room No. 2 and it turned out to be the largest of the three, i.e. rooms 1, 2 and 3 (in total the Bella Casa has 7 rooms). Consequently, I paid the most for my stay. The curators provide a free Internet which is a plus. My companions mentioned though that signal strength for the Internet could be better. As a rule, the lobby is empty except when you telephone the curators and ask them to come over. It usually takes them less than 10 minutes. This is no problem since the key to the room doubles as a key to the house door. Since we did not have a car, the curators drove us to a near by Netto mini supermarket to buy necessities, which was most welcome. A really friendly couple. There is a bus stop almost outside the house, so one needs to be completely isolated. Also, in walking distance (approx. 20 min.) there is a quality family-owned restaurant, somewhat closer to lake Constance. Regarding the bus, one should be aware of the bus schedule, since mostly the buses do not operate after midnight and very little on Sundays. My room had ample space. It was clean, with good windows that could be opened, plus a door to my private balcony (fittted with a small table and two garden chairs). The room came without an air coniditoner and I was rather pleased with that, since such units can sometimes be tricky to adjust and the last thing I would like is to come down with a cold when abroad. The bed was comfortable. I liked the mattress. I would say it is firm mattress and the durvet and bed sheets were to my liking. The duvet was comfortably thin for summer and sufficiently large. However, if you wanted to watch TV you could not do that from bed, since it is placed on the same wall as the bed headboard. Nevertheless, the television set is a modern one and excellent; only complaint would be that CNN was the only station on with English language. Also, since my height is 190 cm I would have prefered a bit longer the mattress. I did not so much care for the room decour and the drapes reminded me of Eastern European style (athough there is nothing wrong with that). I think the room could have been decorated more simply. Nevertheless, enough chairs in the room with a bigger and a smaller table, and a large cupboard. Everything in good order. The bathroom was fine. Not too big, but sufficient. The shower was fine and the supply of towles was good. The bathroom was very clean which is something I like. I also liked that everything worked well. The room is fitted with a small kitchenette. It workes in such a way that you open up two doors and suddenly you have access to everything you need, i.e. a refrigirator, plates, cups, glasses, knives and forks, etc. Plus you can boil your water for instant corree or tea and there is even a specialized Philips Mocca machine (outside the kitchenette along with a small grill). Consequently, you can cook your own food, if you so wish. But I only used the kitchenette to prepare a sparse breakfast, since the rooms come without breakfast - although you can pay extra to obtain such a luxury in the lobby. Since our trip was mostly for business, none of us took our wives or girlfriends along. In my opinion the Bella Casa is suitable for couples. There is a large garden behind the house and the neighbourhood is a quiet residential one and it would be easy to take a stroll down to lake Constance, etc. Nevertheless, I would recommend a rent a car (or your own car) - so as to maximize your freedom, i.e. to be able to leave and return when you please. Also, there is so much to see in this beautiful area of Germany and neighbouring countries are close by. A taxi to Friedrichshafen costs between Euro 20-25 and in most cases we fount out that the taxi drivers needed to seek assistance to find the Bella Casa. My price for the stay at the Bella Casa was Eur 61 a night w/o breakfast. I would stay there again, but only with my own car.
