Hotel Waldesruh Am See

We came for a birthday function close by and booked here quite by accident. All I want to say about the hotel and rooms as regards our overnight stay was that it was more than adequate and clean. What I really want to focus on, is the Food. Oh. My. Word. We arrived mid-afternoon a bit parched and hungry. It's a really short walk from the train, so very easy to find. We did the usual "find our bearings" and meandered to the outside eating area as it was a nice day. We ordered drinks and the menu looked surprisingly refreshing and "nouveau country cuisin'ish". Not expecting much as we were in the country we ordered the tapas to share. Oh.My. Word. I honestly thought I had died and gone to Heaven! I would have taken a photo but it was just so good, we ordered another meal to share. And then another one. This is the best food I have ever eaten in Germany. Period. We had lunch the next day, and my husband still dreams about the pork steak he had. He really does. The owner/chef who owns the hotel with her partner is really all about food. At the entrance of the hotel is a herb garden, and upon entering, live trout in a fish tank. These are signs of what's to come. They cater to vegetarians as well, but I must say that the wild game they focus on and freshly caught "everything" is an experience to behold. The prices are also quite reasonable, and in fact, quite "inexpensive" for the type of cuisine I ate here. We will be back, very soon.
