Waldhotel Dornröschenshöh

Had a one night stay during a cycle trip but have previously eaten in the restaurant on a few occasions. We booked a large room (Größere Komfort) for 98 Euro wanting plenty of space to put our bike gear and enough space to lounge around for the rest of the day. The room turned out to be big enough for a family - separate seating area with a settee (possibly a sofa bed?) table, chairs, patio with small tables & chairs and a view of the 'farmed' deer park, The restaurant consistently serves good food - our fourth visit and focus on local produce where possible. I thought I would be a little adventurous and tried the North Hessen Weckewerk - absolutely delicious. Drinks, including wine, are reasonably priced. Service is friendly and efficient. Should I have given it 5*? Well, there were two issues (both minor so we did not bother raising the Hotel management); as we were travelling light, we didn't bother bringing shower gel/shampoo as we assumed there would be some in the room - unfortunately there wasn't! All you get is two very small bars of soap. Secondly, while the bedroom was clean & tidy, housekeeping had forgotten to empty the waste bin in the bathroom so we still had the previous occupants 'leftovers' in it. To conclude, minor issues aside, the hotel/restaurant is convenient for most of the tourist sites in the area, the restaurant is good and the room we had suited our needs at a sensible price. Will definitely be using it again.
