16 reviewsWe were in Dresden in the beginning of December 2014 to visit the Christmas market. As we didn't think about booking a place much in advance, we were left with just a couple of options. This is how we came across this nice hotel. We stayed in a room for three people with a kitchen corner and a private bathroom. The hotel is situated a bit out of the centre. However, getting there was not a problem. If you take tram 2 from the centre of Dresden, it will take you directly to Semmelweisstraße (tram stop) which takes about 17 minutes. Then 5-7 minutes on foot, and you are there. There is no reception, but the owner buzzed us in. He was very nice, friendly and welcoming. He showed us the room and answered all the questions we had. One of us speaks German so I cannot really say if the owner speaks any other languages. We still had to pay for the reservation. No credit cards accepted. You can pay in cash only. The neighbourhood is very quiet, we found a couple of nice restaurants there but all of them 20-25-minute walk from the hotel. The room itself was very comfortable in every way. There is a small kitchen corner with a toaster, a coffee-maker, a kettle, etc, that allows to have a cup of coffee in the morning and a quick snack if needed. The towels were provided. The bathroom was also very clean with a shower gel and a shampoo available. There was no hair dryer so if you use one, make sure you take it with you. All in all, Ferien is a good place to stay in Dresden. If you don't mind living a bit outside of the histoical center, then it is a place to choose.
