City Hotel Cottbus

City Hotel Cottbus was included as one of the stops on our Spreewald bike tour called “Gurkenradweg”. We didn’t have very high expectations as this was only to be a one night stay. We were however pleasantly surprised. Firstly, we arrived during the world championship soccer game (2018) between Germany and South Korea. Although most everyone in the hotel was watching the game, the manager jumped to our service with a big smile and gave us a warm welcome. We were quickly checked in and given directions to where we could store our bikes inside the hotel’s locked shelter. We were given a bright and clean room on the third floor which was larger than we expected and seemed to be recently refurbished (as seemed much of the hotel). Breakfast was basic but more than sufficient. One thing we did miss was a larger flat screen TV with English channels. Many of the German hotels have only German stations. All in all, a great place to stay when visiting Cottbus.
