Very bad experience, when booked put 4 people 2 rooms 2 nights When I checked in they charged 24 euros per room for an extra person. There was no parking available. No street parking available had to pay 10 euros to park at Ibis across the street. Very bad experience. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very bad experience December 2023

Didn't even get there! Owing to roadworks and accidents all the way from southern Austria, I had a 5-hour delay. I therefore called up to ask if arriving at 1.30 am was going to be a problem.  Firstly, I waited forever on the phone - went through some nonsensical menu four times as it switches over when you have been waiting for someone to pick up for a while. 

When someone finally picked up, she was incredibly aggressive - she wouldn't let me finish a sentence, so basically all I got to say was "I have a reservation for tonight". She was yelling down the phone "what about the reservation? what about the reservation?".  I finally said, "Would you please let me talk?" and she yelled the same thing down the phone again. 

I said, "Forget it" and put down the phone. I still didn't know if turning up that late was going to be a problem and even if it wasn't, turning up for ding ding round 2 with that woman at 1.30 am was not exactly an attractive prospect. 

I wrote the review and put it on the official site, but see it has been removed (although reviews before and after mine are still up). I wrote to complain that all I got for my €80 was a load of aggravation and no room. Nobody has replied even though Accor has apparently written to them too. 

On Google there are some reviews mentioning nasty, aggressive receptionists, but obviously nobody really cares anyway, because over years nothing has changed.

Value for money.
Paid less than £40 a night for two nights in October.  Would happily stay again if I was visiting Cologne in the future.  Yes it’s basic, but if you’re staying alone it’s fine.  

One pillow each but an average comfy bed it’s easy to make do for a short stay.  Shampoo/body wash along with soap provided in the room.   Free parking and plenty of it.  Next door to a fuel station with a decent shop, chilled beers and wines, coffee and pastry’s available for breakfast.  KFC across the road too. 

Only a 5 minute walk down the main road to the local subway/train station - 3 stops  and 3 euros into the centre (Koln HBB) where you’ll find the famous cathedral.  Only a couple of stops in the other direction to the airport so nice and easy although the ticket machine wasn’t the easiest to work so give yourself plenty of time.   

All in all, if you can get this hotel for less than £50 a night and your on a short break, give it a go.  It’ll save you a lot of money as opposed to staying in the centre of Cologne.

Good value

Low Budget experience, as expected. The room was at top floor. There was no elevator, so I had to carry everything. The room was very hot and the aircondition was not running well and it could not cool down the temperature.

Average, as expected

True to it’s name, this is an Ibis Budget hotel.  There is zero glam, zero comfort and zero to like but it is cheap, close to the airport (one stop on the S-Bahn) and clean.  The staff are helpful, the breakfast is basic and there’s a petrol station and KFC near by for everything else.

I am giving this one an "Excellent" rating since I have not a single reason to complain. I would have _wished_ for the breakfast to offer more variety though, so I am only recommending short stays. 
If you are aware of the location and the kind of hotel you are booking here, you will probably not be disappointed.
PS for guests planning to drink the local beer: Avoid "Gaffel Kölsch" like the plague. There are enough other Kölschs to chose from.

Was good for my weekend

This hotel is quite simple (well, it is an ibis BUDGET), but there is almost everything you need for a good night sleep. The room is clean and big enough for one person. Near a train station and only two stations away from the Köln Messe (and three stations away from the Hbf), which is very good. And close to Cologne-Bonn Airport, too. The breakfast is also simple but quite okay. There are no supermarkets, restaurants or any shops nearby, so you need to eat dinner elsewhere before going back to the hotel.

Simple but not bad

Just back from Xmas market break & had a lovely little stay at this Ibis. Alex & wife really take care of you with local knowledge & room requests. The breakfast is typical continental & perfectly adequate to start your day. The rooms are typical budget hotel, bed, toilet, shower & TV with English SKY. The train to Koln is frequent & reliable (24hr) around 10 mins journey time & same to walk to station. TIP, upon arrival at airport the Q for the train ticket machine is horrendous, in the arrivals hall there is a shop called Kirschner were you can buy the KOLN CARD its superb value check it out online to decide the level you need, I bought 24hr pass for 4 ppl for 18 Euros a few trips into Koln from the hotel + your airport trip & you’re already in pocket + 20% off a tour round the cathedral thrown in, winner winner Christmas dinner!!

Everything is very basic but everything is good. Comfortable stay. Close to the train station and 5 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes into the city centre. Self check in option available after office hours.

Comfortable and affordable

My confirmation said I could cancel up to 6pm so I thought I would be OK when I arrived at about 8pm as i had not made a cancellation. I was wrong I was advised I should have checked in before 6pm so my room was no longer available. They eventually did find a room. Room was OK though the shower should have had a glass door on it but this was previously smashed. Although the hinges for the shower door still had bits of broken glass sticking out of them. A plastic shower custian had been fixed using cable ties. Breakfast was OK but some of the breakfast cereal must have been there a while as it was solid in the dispenser.
