23 reviewsWe stayed two nights at House One and were very pleased with our stay. While I can understand some other reviewers frustration with the lack of a traditional reception desk, we had no trouble at all late on a Sunday afternoon. We knocked on the glass door (that you can access once checked in with your key) and the owner greeted us right away for check in. We visited during the summer heat wave (the high on Sunday was a humid 97). House One mercifully had great AC, which doesn’t appear to be the case at many hotels and restaurants in Baden Baden (or anywhere in Germany, for that matter). Our room was bright and comfortable, with a great bed and really nice appointments in the bedroom and bathroom (including a fabulous shower). Breakfast was a highlight, with an impressive spread for a small property and great views of town from the the breakfast room. And the location, as mentioned by other reviewers, is unbeatable. Everything is within easy walking distance, and you are in the most charming part of town. Any concerns with the nontraditional check in were more than offset by the quality and comfort of our stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at House One if we visit Baden Baden again.
