The Pastoriushaus was built in 1668 by the mayor of Bad Windsheim and father of Franz Daniel Pastorius, the leader of the first organized German immigration group to North America and the founder of Germantown near Philadelphia, PA. The building has been totally renovated and brought up to modern standards of a Pension or Bed and Breakfast. All rooms have a private bathroom with shower, WC and hair dryer, comfortable beds, small writing table with 2 chairs, flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi and ample storage facilities. Providing a special charm are the ancient wooden beams in walls and ceiling, one really could feel being transferred back to the Middle Ages, would it not be for the contemporary amenities. The typical German buffet breakfast is fresh and plentiful, however no fried eggs and bacon. Frau Grimm, the hostess is very friendly and helpful with information about sights and activities around town. The Pastoriushaus is located in a quiet area at the edge of the old town center and easily accessible by car, 5 private parking spots are available. Walking to the center is easy and so it is to find shops, restaurants or a cafe for Kaffee und Kuchen.
