The name of this little town where we are for a week is Bad Kohlgrub. The name indicates what it is: Bad: bath/spa/wellness resort – pick any one of them Kohl: from Kohle, coal Grub: from Grube: mine So we’re in a coal mine wellness resort. The town is full of spa hotels and inns, each a resort that offers wellness treatments, overnight stays, and breakfasts or other meals as desired. Each has a minimum of 15 or so individual rooms for soaking in delicious, fabulous coal mud from fir needle soaked bog of the surrounding mountains. The Kurbad St. Martin is located right across the street from our vacation rental and came highly recommended from our hosts. We sat in the very warm coal mud, were rinsed off, took a great nap bundled up in warm blankets, and then had a massage. Absolutely wonderful.
