Hotel-Pension Elfi

We spent a week at the Elfi, making trips in the Hamburg area with an old friend. We were delighted. Bad Bevensen is a beautiful spa town with enormous trees, so walking to the spa, train station, and shops is a pleasure. Through traffic is prohibited around the Elfi, and the quiet is wonderful. It's a family operation, and we got to see the owners play with their little grandson before school every day. Breakfast is an excellent cold buffet with new choices each day of cheese, cereals, cold cuts, yogurts, etc. and great coffee. Try for a table near the picture window since it overlooks the back garden. One of their features is a bike-and-breakfast package, so you could be well set for a day's pedaling. The Elfi is immaculate. Smokers can use the balconies, but inside it's nonsmoking. Our room was comfortable, had a kettle, some dinnerware, generous closet, and very good television, and our bathroom seemed to be recently remodeled. Weather was still too chilly to use the little balcony, but it would be a pleasure in summer. Hospitality is first-rate, and we would love to go back. Be aware that parking is limited and there's no elevator (neither was a problem for us, but I'll point it out).
