88 reviewsStayed here as an extended birthday weekend in early October. I have always loved castles and finally could stay for a night in one. Burg Schnellenberg certainly did not disappoint. Our room was in a tower, so a proper castle feel to it, winding narrow staircase and all. The room was very big, with equally big bathroom with a bath tub. High ceilings, self-controlled heating, comfy bed, bit of an old bulding smell, but that's part of the package. Lovely views onto 4 sides of the building, including a view from the bathroom. We had a package that included a tower room stay, dinner, tickets to the caves and a tour of the castle. Unfortunately the tour of the castle was not available on the day we stayed, but we were offered an aperitif and a souvenir instead which we were totally satisfied with and the whole situation was treated in a nice and professional manner. The dinner did not disappoint either, portions were proper german big, and the food was tasty. There are enough parking spots in the castle grounds, and driving through the castle gates was a nice experience in itself. There are also some walking routes in the nearby forest, so if the weather permits it is nice to enjoy a refreshing walk before dinner. There is also a spa at the hotel which we didn't try cause the weather was so good, but it is nice for a rainy day perhaps. Overall highly recommend to stay for a night here, nice alternative to modern hotels.
