My wife and I booked here back in May 2019 for our wedding anniversary. I am with some mixed feelings about our stay. On the one hand, the complex is indeed very pretty, the beach ringed by the forest is absolutely scenic, the restaurant is very very good! And the bungalows are stylish, if somewhat basic. It's a friendly place and the atmosphere is really nice! However, communication was difficult (and I was even writing in French). There wasn't a way to book reliably so I did so by email (I knew the place from Lonely Planet). All seemed good but just one day before our stay, it turned out they didnt have vacancy as they couldnt finish furnishing their newest bungalow. So the owner negotiated us to stay at a nearby place which was MUUUCH more basic and borderline derelict. Well, it happens, so we didn't let it ruin our stay, we just moved the other day. However, at the end, it ALSO turned out that the price I was quoted was per person, so double what I was expecting. This was not cool at all since I had rationed my finances pretty strictly and I ended up not being able to pay the full amount which was very embarassing for me and I'm sure not good for Caroline also. Now, in hindsight I must say that judging by the nearby places' prices, this wasn't in bad faith, it was very likely an honest mistake in communication. It would have helped to just be more clear about the prices. Also, it has to be said that the second night we ended up in a better bungalow than we had booked. And also that Caroline helped us arrange a VERY nice trip to the pink sands, bird island and the rest of the lagoon. She was really kind despite the problems. So really Tikehau Village is definitely a good place and you should absolutely consider it, we just had some less than stellar experience and left with some mixed feelings about it. So make sure you communicate well your expectations.

Friendly and charming but with some issues

We stayed 3 nights here. Host and staff very friendly and helpfull. The bungalows are right infront of the lagoon. Beautiful view, but lots of mosqutoes. Bungalows,lots of termites on our bed too,not very healthy and hygiene. In all we enjoyed our stayed

Beautiful place, But.....

Carolina and husband have now added a brand new wooden deck with bar to their structure. 
Since I was traveling alone, they really treated me like family and invited me to their private party. 
Food was simple and good. Only problem: I wish they would dispose the leftovers of food a bit further away from the shore, as it now attracts too many black fin sharks. They are harmless, yet ....

Wonderful people

This is a very down to earth, informal family run spot. They may entertain you with local dance and music, depending on what's happening.Serge will serve your dinner and drinks and provided the boat is operational take you on a magical and very informed excursion to see the mantas and fantastic scenery of the island. We enjoyed a marvelous few days there. Do go, and be prepared to take it as it comes. If you are looking for high end luxury, this is not the place for you. But the people are lovely and accommodating, there is a whole fleet of brand new bikes available for the taking and you wake up on a bungalow on the beach. My kind of place.

very informal but lovely

Staying at Tikehau Village was most relaxing. The bungalows are basic but good and its idyllic being in the beach and truly away from it all. The people were welcoming and very friendly. I am a vegetarian and they were happy to make me dimple meals like omelette and pasta, all very tasty. It truly is an island where you can unwind. Caro, the hostess is very friendly and welcoming. There are free bikes and kayaks. A special mention goes to Serge who was lovely and worked so hard. You need to take your basics with you in terms of shampoos, shower gels etc but for sheer friendliness and that getaway from it all feeling it would be hard to beat.

Superb getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tikehau Village.  The beach bungalows are comfortable and roomy and have a lovely view of the lagoon which is only 20 meters from the front porch.   There is no air conditioning, but generally there was a nice breeze.  There weren't very many mosquitos  when we visited in June, but it's a good idea to bring repellent with you. The family running the pension was very friendly to us non french speaking Americans.  We felt very welcome.

The food was outstanding especially the incredible sashimi that was served for lunch one day and as an appetizer for the Saturday night buffet.  There is no menu as meals are what they are (generally fresh caught fish).  Beer is available for purchase at the pension.  If you want wine it can be purchased at the small market a short bike ride away.

We found it a little difficult to make a reservation so we finally used easy Tahiti travel agency which worked well.  Since Tikehau Village does not accept Credit cards it was nice to have the bungalow pe.-paid with the travel agent.
