We stayed here for three nights. We did not realize that our bungalow was not air-conditioned.  This would have been bearable if the two fans they provided actually moved the air around.  There was a ceiling fan in the kitchen/living area which necessitated you to sit right under it to feel any sort of breeze.  The small fan in the bedroom which was anchored to a corner of the room did not provide a breeze that reached the bed.  We had an ant problem in the bathroom and the kitchen. This was not an ant or two but a small army that crawled along the wall, sink, floor and at times even the toilet seat.  We discovered that we could not leave any food out in the kitchen or we risked an invasion of ants.  The best way to describe this experience is that it is a step up from camping.  We paid $135 US dollars per night which is much higher than any camping experience we have ever had.  So if you like camping, this place will suit you just fine.  We were assisted in securing restaurant reservations, transportation to the airport and ferry tickets through this establishment which was certainly helpful.  If you need internet, you will be frustrated by the very slow or sometimes non-existent internet connection.  There is no TV, no shampoo, no hair dryer.  There were two small bars of soap plus some liquid dish detergent in the kitchen.  

Disappointed

The place is absolutely amazing. Cute Polynesian-style huts with direct access to beach (max. 30 meters) and sea-view. Beautiful, nice and calm place with free unlimited kayaks. Excellent snorkelling. Restaurants and grocery stores are a couple minutes' walk away. For me this is the best-value accommodation in Moorea. Do not count with fast wifi - if you need it, just do not go to Polynesia.

Best private beach and snorkelling

This lovely guesthouse is wonderfully run and has a great choice of charming bungalows right by a beautiful little beach in the best part of Moorea! We booked in advance and got the one right up front, but any of the bungalows are just a few feet away from the water. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with a full kitchen, great for cooking your own meals and saving a bit of money from eating out every day. We loved the outdoor seating on our patio, great for morning coffee! Beautifully , well kept grounds!  We had a car, but you could walk to a few great restaurants and the grocery store if you didn’t have one! We drove around the whole island and this location was the best! So  well run, and the friendliest staff, we felt so at home here!  Be sure to order the homemade  coconut bread offered every morning , so good and so cheap! Loved the free kayaks offered and the sunsets off the beach. I highly recommend staying here! We can’t wait to go back!! 

Loved our bungalow in Paradise!! 

Sorry for the long review but I have some great tips for your trip.

Wow is all I can say.  We stayed at the Front De Mer bungalow for 7 days.  It was a prefect beach house for us.  Nothing like getting up in the morning and viewing the ocean with a cup of coffee or watching the beautiful sunsets in the evening with  your own cocktail. Can't say enough about Fabienne and Elvis. Fabienne, the manager took great care of all our needs from arranging taxis to booking reservations for dinner and activities.  She has many connections.  She will order you French bread (baguette) and coconut bread for you to have in the morning. There is a charge for this but it’s worth it.  Any problems we had, Fabienne was there to take care of it.  Elvis the grounds keeper was awesome.  He gets along with everyone and is like a big teddy bear.  My sister wanted some fresh coconut juice and Elvis knocked one down for her and opened it up with his machete.  He sings and plays the Ukulele. He also brought us some passion fruit (Lilikoi).  Elvis also kept the grounds immaculate.  Now about the place.  It was perfect for US.  My wife and I had the major bedroom. You need to understand that there is no A/C in the hut. Only fans.  No screens in the window but we honestly never ever had a bug or anything come in. The sliding windows do lock so if you are worried about anything you can close them. The fan mounted on the wall was perfect.  We are use to camping so this did not bother us at all. My sister and sister in law slept on the two single beds provided. The Kitchen was perfect for our needs and so was the refrigerator. No microwave, toaster, radio or TV but that was fine with us.  The bathroom was average. Stand up basic shower. Also an outside basic shower for rinsing off the salt water. They could use a soap dish in the shower.  Nowhere to put the soap.  A very spacious patio. for eating and playing games or relaxing. Wi-Fi is provided but it's hit and miss. Best time to use it is early in the morning when everyone is asleep. The place provides single person Kayaks or canoes. The beach is very clean and good snorkeling down the beach. Everything is good walking distance from the place.  We love to walk and it is SAFE.  We never felt threatened or in danger at all.  The people there are so friendly. WE would walk back to our place late at night and felt safe doing so.  There are some great restaurants around and some that are not so good.  There is a local grocery store down the street but make sure you know what the  times are that they open and close. During the day they close at certain hours. Don't expect much at the store and be prepared to pay double for what you normally pay in the states. Yes Moorea is expensive for everything.  I would suggest that you go to your local bank and convert to some of their money-(CFP)  French Pacific Franc.  When we were there the franc was just about or equal to our dollar but some places like restaurants and taxis will change you a surcharge for using US dollars.  It was a shock and a rip-off.  Most big restaurants and places will take credit cards but mostly Visa and MasterCard.  Be sure to tell your Credit card company that you are going out of the country so that they don't block your credit card thinking it was stolen.  Some credit cards will also charge you a fee for using the card each time so check with them so it's not a shock to you when you get back. Most of the major restaurants will pick you up and bring you back but make sure to make reservations first. Even if it’s a small restaurant. 
TIPS- As soon as you get into your place start making ice and continue to make ice. There is no ice machine around. I really stress this.  They only give you one tray and a mini tray.  Use your water bottles and fill them up and freeze them for traveling and drinking.  We drank the tap water there and it was good. If you love a special type of liquor bring it.  The liquor is soooo expensive there.  I purchased from Amazon portable foldable wine pouch. There like $7.00 and hold almost a full bottle. No need to carry a bottle with you that’s bulky and more weight. This pouch was perfect. Wish I had bought another one.  We ran out of Liquor after three days.  The passion fruit juice went well with the vodka.  Bring a collapsible ice chest bag. This is perfect for traveling and keeping your drinks and food cold.  Bring some zip lock bags, Quart and gallon.  Gallon zip lock is perfect to put your ice that you are making in. The quart size is great for sandwiches or snacks or to preserve your French bread.  Bring coffee. There is a great coffee maker in the kitchen with a screen filter. You might bring some paper filters if you don’t like the screen. Cone shape filters.  Bring a converter/Adapter if you are planning on charging your phones, IPad or Laptops. Bring your own soap and shampoo.  They will provide you with a small tiny bar of soap which will go quickly.  You can get more but since there is no holder in the shower it ends up on the floor. This may sound funny but they do not have any hot sauce there. If you find it, it will be in olive oil for your pizza.  I went to the 99 cent store and bought a small bottle of Sriracha.  I also bought from amazon a mini hot sauce key change.  This was perfect because I would fill the key chain bottle up and hook it to the house key and take it with me. If you rent a car, make sure you ask for an automatic if you can’t drive stick shift.  Oscar’s was the cheapest place to rent but you need to make reservations ahead of time.  They do not have a bunch of cars sitting around. Bug spray is a must. Bring Suntan lotion and bring plenty. Bring a rain poncho. Buy a cheap one and take it with you everywhere you go. You never know when a storm will come in. Bring small flash lites and a head flash lite.  They come in very handy if you go for walks at night on the beach or coming back from a restaurant. Also bring a backpack. Bring your snorkel gear and fins. As far as clothes, I stress to you not to take much.  There is no night clubs. The Intercontinental is the closest major hotel with entertainment there. But check with them when they have the shows. You can go to any restaurant as casual as you want.  It was suggested before I leave to take my clothes out and take half of what I packed.  Then when I was there I could have taken less.  If you are into shrimp and I mean fresh shrimp (peel and eat) and you feel like cooking, there is a place that sells fresh shrimp every Wednesday from 10:00 -2:00.  These were good.  Ask Fabienne where it is located. Bring food with you. Breakfast especially. We took oatmeal, breakfast bars, cereal etc. You can buy milk at the store.  We also bought cooked rice in a pouch, peanuts, and snacks.  The grocery store does not carry eggs.  Eggs are hard to get.  Hope this helps you out. 
 Restaurants we loved.  For lunch and dinner. we loved La Paillote. It’s a stand that is down the street, Walking distance. Get the whole chicken and fries. It feed us and we had left overs.  The roasted chicken was huge.  They also have other great foods there. Be aware, most of these small stands have funny hours so check with someone when they open and close. Other restaurants for dinner. Le Lezard Jaune. Pricey but good. My favorite, Snack Coco D’Isle  right next to Le Lezard Restaurant.  Great food and great prices.  If you want a great Steak and want to pay the price, go to Holy Steak House.  We personally didn’t care for Mayflower Restaurant. The food wasn’t that great for us.  Another fantastic place we had lunch at is A l'Heure du Sud. Good food and great prices. For pizza we went to Hotel Hibiscus. The restaurant inside this hotel is called the Sunset. The restaurant is located to the back by the beach.  Remember to make reservations for any place you eat at and check with them if they have transportation to pick you up and bring you back.  If You get a Taxi or transportation of any sort remember that they are prompt. If you say 4:45 they will be right there at 4:45. Not a minute late.

Fantastic Place

Was happy to spend two nights at Fare Miti in March in Unit 5 on the beach, spring for the extra few dollars if it is available.  Would have liked to stay longer but schedule conflicts made for a short but memorable stay.   Small property with individual cabinas.  Simple but fairly large, with living space, full kitchen, bedroom and separate bathroom.  Large deck with table and many chairs.  Living space could sleep two additional on single day beds. Lots of windows, large sliding door and outside door at bathroom make for great air circulation. No air-con but large ceiling fan in the living space and wall mounted fan in the bedroom help keep the temperature moderate.  Fabienne, Celine and Elvis are gems as overseers of the property...friendly, helpful and cheerful.  Mostly French guests when I was there.  Check out is 10:00, which was not disclosed when I arrived, but Celine accommodated me with a slightly later check out without concern.  Free use of kayaks a real plus, you can be on the water in just a few minutes.  Excellent coral garden and wide variety or marine life just off the beach.  maybe a 20-30 minute paddle to the breakers. Smoke free!  The other beachfront unit is not owned by Fare Mite so the guests there may not be bound by the common courtesies expected by guests of Fare Miti. Luckily no issues during my stay.

Note: common picnic tables are just below unit 5 which could be a problem with loud users. 

Guests get a 10% discount at nearby restaurant Coco D'lle.  10 minute drive to SNACK MAHANA...nice simple lunch restaurant with a handful of mains and excellent tropical flavor sorbets, super fresh salads and a dining deck right on the water...quiet, friendly staff, good food and amazing views across the water.  Don't miss this one!
