Close to airport but beware of high transport costs to/from there

It is a lovely family house apartments in a living area of Tahiti close to the FAA airport, but far from anything else.The premisses are moderately equipped with the normal e-mail speed internet access. The room and bathroom were very clean.Expect also a warm welcome from the owner with additional complimentary 0.5l of water bottle per person.

It is close to the Airport... but its moderate price for this region should be reviewed deeper due to relatively high taxi transport costs for 2 people and 4 suitcases ! 25 USD for a 5 min drive there and 25 USD back to the airport places this premisses not among the cheapest in the region.

Additionally, you have to consider your eventual meals as there are no restaurants or shops close to the apartment.

Be prepared that visiting the center of Papeete from this point on will cost you additional apx 20+ USD one way with a taxi.

Close to airport but beware of high transport costs to/from there

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Fare Hau. Anita, our host, was very accommodating and helpful, as was her daughter. The accommodation was exceptionally clean and tidy. Shoes were to be left at the entrance. The breakfast was very good, fresh fruit, juice, bread made for a good start to the day. Our room, Moana, was the only one with a private bath. The other 3 rooms had to share a bath. The A/C in our room was wonderful and kept the temperature very comfortable for sleeping. Internet was okay, but you needed to be in the living area or on the lanai for best reception. On the downside, Fare Hau was EXTREMEMLY hard to find. We made one attempt upon arrival, gave up and spent the day driving around the island. We finally went back to the airport, rented a wifi hotspot and had to follow it, meter by meter, to the B&B. There are NO street signs anywhere so its next to impossible to map yourself to a place. Also, Fare Hau is fairly isolated from the downtown area, restaurants, etc., so you really need a car, else you're stuck there and have to call a taxi for any travel. Cabs in Papeete charge extra for going up a hill so it isn't cheap. Were it not for the difficulty to find and the remoteness from restaurants, etc., we would 've rated it much higher. As an aside, we met some amazing and wonderful people who were also staying there so we car pooled a lot, ate together, and made new friends. Finally, Anita makes/paints pareos which she sells commercially, so it was fun to watch her work. They were beautiful.

Clean accommodations and wonderful host

This hotel is relatively close to the airport (5min drive). You will in either case need a taxi, but the hotel has some good contacts. The staff is extremely friendly and kind and it will make you feel welcome and at home. The rooms are very pleasant and the overall decoration is lovely and exotic! This is definitely a great deal of a place to stay in Papeete.

Great deal and close to the airport

Accommodation is a bedroom in a large, clean 4 bedroom apartment with a large kitchen, dining, lounge area and a large balcony. The bedroom we had had an ensuite shower and toilet. The bedroom was small but fine for one night. When we were there there were no other occupants.

We were picked up from the airport very efficiently and arrived at the accommodation at about 8 p.m.at night and really there was no where to go and eat without getting another taxi so come with some snacks or eat before you arrive.

It might be better to  pay a little extra and stay in an airport hotel if you just need somewhere to sleep on a stopover.

Located in a hilly residential suburb away from places to eat.

This pension is perfect for any short stay in Tahiti before catching a connecting flight or traveling on.  Only 5 minutes from Faa'a airport.  It has a large balcony for breakfast and relaxing with magnificent views of Moorea and the ocean.  Comfortable beds and hot shower.  Spacious open plan kitchen for preparing your own food.

The pension will pick you up at the airport for 400 CFP (US$4) per person and also take you into Papeete for 800 CFP per person.  
The only downside is the distance from restaurants or shops.  You have to take a car/taxi each time. 

Comfortable and peaceful stopover in Tahiti 

We stayed at Fare Hau for three days at the end of a cruise on the Paul Gauguin. We were met at the ferry terminal in Papeete, and driven to the guesthouse by one of Anita's two beautiful daughters, who patiently waited while we did a little shopping in a supermarket on the way.  This was necessary, as the guesthouse is perched up a mountain, with magnificent views, but well out of reach of amenities.

Anita, like her daughters, is delighted.  A native of the Australs, she is very artistic, with a love of sharing her treasures, and so this lovely guesthouse is a delight to the eye.

We had the Moana room, which has a bathroom attached. Amenities were excellent, with free wifi, air conditioning, the use of Anita's phone, a very, very comfortable bed, and nice local toiletries in the bathroom.  There is a big sitting room, a dining room, a well appointed kitchen, and a gorgeous verandah.  A talking point is the huge painting on the sitting room wall.  A fresh, attractive breakfast was laid out each morning -- bread, fruit, preserves, and really excellent coffee.

Anita was the perfect hostess.  Twice, friends called to visit, and they were made as welcome as we were.
