Instead of having to go see or eat in a cave why not stay in one?! Sleeps 6 comfortably. Two full bathrooms. Nice kitchen and living room. Has a lovely view of the Loire. It is nicely maintained, clean and stocked. Washer and dryer as well as dishwasher. Wine cellar stocked with local wines built right into the cave wall! Location made it really easy to see Angers to Orleans!  

There is literally nothing to criticize about this place. It is an amazing home built in a cave, looking out over a verdant valley, and completely modernized inside. The caves are not damp at all, but the silent radiators and working fireplaces provide welcome heat when needed. There are three bedrooms, a master with a queen and two others with two twin beds each. The master bedroom has its own bathroom on the top floor, and is equipped with both a large bathtub and a shower. The master bedroom has a little window opening out onto the roof, which is earth and you can actually go outside to enjoy the view! One of the other bedrooms is on the first floor, with a big window looking out over the valley.  The other is up a small spiral staircase, tucked under the eaves with a side window and very quiet.

Everything is spotlessly clean. The beds are comfortable with soft down duvets and plenty of pillows. The bathrooms not only have many soft fluffy towels, they also have robes and a basket of nice soaps etc. The kitchen has all the necessary pots and pans plus many extras, such as a great espresso maker, a fancy French orange press, and even a small cave stocked with local champagne and wine.

In front of the house is a small sitting area outside looking out over the valley, with a small yard below.  Chives and lavender grow just outside the door. There are two parking spots (with motion-sensitive lights). The front of the house is glassed in, creating a small sitting area that is furnished with a table and chairs - everyone in our family migrated here daily because it was so charming and irresistible. There is free wifi that worked reliably.

Our family of five adults loved this place and looked forward to a restful evening here after we enjoyed touring the beautiful Loire Valley chateaux and vineyards. Very highly recommended.

Maison Melrose is owned by a lovely woman who loves this home, and wants her guests to have a good experience here, too. It is in a quiet little neighborhood close to Vouvray, and surrounded by vineyards. The beds and bedding are wonderfully comfortable, the master bathroom is very large, with a tub and a separate shower, and the decor of the whole house is charming. I would come and stay here again, as it is close to the chateaux of the Loire yet quiet and peaceful.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and loved it. The ability to stay in a private residence with no others is what sold this to us. The place is quite charming and even has its own stocked wine cellar (Vouvray of course!). It is also not in town, but only a few kilometers away, so it is nice and quiet. We recommend this place to stay.
