Vingt-Mille Lieux

I always find it difficult to locate good stopovers in the area south of Nantes. We've now found one! It's at Vertou which is really a suburb of Nantes, not far at all from the Périphérique. However, this house feels like it's in a quiet riverside village. Both bedrooms are at the rear of the property and open out on to the large, walled back garden. There are big trees and lovely places to sit. At the bottom of the garden there's secure parking and from it there's a two-minute walk to the river and the two restaurants. Perfect! We had a warm welcome from the owner, the room was quiet, interesting and comfortable and breakfast was excellent. (You can pay by credit card too). It all lightened the pain of our holiday ending, especially as there are some excellent hypermarkets nearby for last-minute shopping before the doleful trip to the ferry!
