If you want to have an amazing view of Vedène, this is the place to pick. I leave in the area and never seen Vedène like that.
In addition to the access of the main terrasse, we were not expecting to have access to the rooftop which was equipped with two sun bathing chairs.
What will stay in our mind will probably be the way the room was prepared for us and the note of the host Robert.

My husband, Jim and I, travelled to France in May – we had been in France about 10 days prior to arriving at Chateau de Vedene - we had read the reviews, which were positive - and i must add one more - we arrived in the town late afternoon and there was some construction going on  which then threw our directions off,  we found a gas station close by and called Robert - he walked down to the gas station introduced himself and hopped in our car - we then drove  up to the Chateau, Robert chatting along the way and making us feel as though we had known him for ages. Once we parked in our special location, we climbed a number of stairs, as the towns people would have done hundreds and hundreds of years ago, they are the original steps – we were quite taken with the ascent to our little piece of paradise if you enjoy history even a little bit, this is a great place to go,– if was fun to imagine what it must have been like back in the 1100’s. We were shown to our abode that we would be staying at for the next 3 nights – it was awesome – the walls are 9 feet thick so once inside, you have no outside noises – there are tapestries on the walls along with paintings – which all have stories to them –the views from the terrace are superb and you can sit out and have a glass of wine or beer etc.,with your feet up, read or just take in the view. Robert was a perfect host –was available if you wanted to chat  otherwise he was in his part of the Chateau working – he did tell us about the Chateau/caslte which was all very fascinating to us – he offered his knowledge of the area should you be interested, but was not pushy in any way. We did ask for his expertise when going to Avignon, which was a facinating place- he gave us tips on where to park for free – places to go once inside and a lovely surprise that we would not have read in any leaflet, at  La Mirande 5 star hotel within Avignon, you can ask at the front desk to go down winding stairs to the cellar kitchen  – there is a beautiful 19th Century kitchen below the hotel with original counters and ovens – you can take cooking classes also – The next day, after a lovely little breakfast on the terrace, Robert gave us a few places to go exploring, which again, we would not have known to go to without his knowledge, we explored the walled city of  Gordes, the Abbey Senanque, and Rousillon – we were sad to leave the area – we thought 3 nights would be enough, but wished we had booked for longer. As we were heading south we again enlisted Robert to tell us of any other gems we were not aware of and of course he came through by telling us about Eza, in the south of France, east of Nice – and WOW that was quite a place too. We definitely would recommend the Chateau, as long as you are ok with climbing some  stairs to get there- like a very - mini Stairway to Heaven. ps: Robert is a huge Beatles fan.

My husband and I loved our stay here! Yes there are many steps and the parking lot a little tricky to find but the positives far out weigh the negatives. The room was clean, the breakfast on the terrace was very nice and Robert was very helpful with directions and suggestions on places to explore. A real taste of old world charm with a the modern amenities.

I have a wonderful time staying over 2 nights in this magical historical castel. Wonderful view over the city from the top roof and the terrace while having a breakfast consisting of whatever I wish for. Very nice host Robert aknowledges of history of his castle and everythig what it has to do with Avignon and the places arround. Izabela from Rome, Italy.

Beautiful Views!

We really don't like to be negative about things but if we had known there were so many stairs just to get to the entrance then more up to the room then more up to the bathroom we would not have booked here. Lucky we travel light. Robert is a nice guy, gives you heaps of local knowledge and places to visit. The place was clean and bed OK, breakfast we cancelled 2nd day and ate in the village. Other than the stairs it is reasonable.
