Hôtel de France

After a long (550 mile) motorcycle ride in the cold and wet it's nice to arrive somewhere where the staff care. The propritess, her English as good as my French (in petite peu) ,managed to get the motorcycle accommodated in the family garage. That's a big plus. Motorcycles are easy to steal. The dinner was stunning. Wine recommendation good. Room was spartan but clean. Though the Howells had all the fluff removed from them. Not so much fluffy as knackered. Breakfast could have done with some cold meat. Not just bread and jam. But as I write this from my squeaky clean Swiss hotel the next night I wish I was in the Hotel de France again. It can be a pleasure trying to work out what each other is saying, with a smile as well. Here in Swissland the madam of the house pretends she doesn't speak English but is fluent. My German is very school boy...but she just won't help. And every time I want something it's a pain. So stay at Le Bessat. It's good.
