Anse Figuier Gites de France

This was our first time staying at a gite which is like a French BNB. This gite was extremely spacious and had everything a family would need if they were to stay just a few days or even a week. There was a master bedroom with AC, an upstairs with 1 larger bed and 2 smaller beds, a kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, large fridge, microwave, stove, oven and washing machine. There's a large patio overlooking the Plage de Figuier beach with a hammock. Drying rack is outside for laundry. Daniel is the owner and he's a very nice fellow. He picked us up from the pier and even held our stuff and brought it to us on our day of departure because our ferry didn't depart until 5PM that day which was helpful. Our booking was easy as was communicating with Daniel on payment and on scheduling our pickup upon arrival at the ferry terminal. There were only a few "negatives" if you want to call them that - the gite is definitely a hike to the center of the village - about a 20 minute walk with a couple hills mixed in so make sure you rent a scooter or golf cart. We didn't have one but should have gotten one in retrospect. Also, you have to bring your own soap to take a bath. This isn't a traditional hotel so soap and shampoo is your own though Daniel does supplying towels for drying. Also, you'll likely spend some time at a beach while on Terre-de-Haut. Beach towels are also on your own so we wound up buying one in town. Lastly, my girlfriend found the bed to be a bit uncomfortable but that's been the case with each place we've stayed at in Guadeloupe while I thought it was the best bed we had during our weeklong trip. We would stay with Daniel at his gite again.
