Hotel Du Rempart

To appreciate Hotel du Rempart you need to put it into context. It is a family run 2 star hotel in an ancient building in a historic town in France. It is clean and a warm welcome awaits visitors. We had a nicely modernised room on the second floor with a good bathroom and superb view over the surrounding vineyards. The reception area had been decorated in French style and the communal areas as well. These can seem a bit dark at first site and were showing signs of being well used, shabby chic it really is. There is a lively bar which is open late and popular with the locals, what better recommendation could you have? That does mean that it can be a bit noisy when it closes, if that bothers you ask for a room away from the bar but you won't get the view! The breakfast is adequate and if something is missing just ask. We did have a couple of problems on our first morning but a quick chat with the staff soon had it fixed. Being a family run hotel you get personal service but the don't have the resources of a big chain to fund maintenance and modernisation. The food at lunch and dinner is excellent and the atmosphere relaxed, this isn't a fast food place, as I said it is French. Take your time, relax and enjoy good wine and food.
