B and B Sur le Port

We booked the hotel as part of a trip through France, and it was the highlight of our holiday. The apartment is run by Patrick and Marc, and is beautifully furnished. The 'chamber blanche' is exquisite with a vast and stunning en suite shower room. The apartment directly overlooks the port of St Martin, with its upmarket boutiques, cafes, restaurants and bars. We were welcomed by Patrick at the entrance to the pedestrianized zone, and he gave us a car pass which allowed us to access the zone by car and park close by for the two days we were there. Marc made us a lovely breakfast on both mornings, and they both gave us tips on good restaurants and places to go. They were both really friendly and helpful in every way. The Ile de Re is a cyclists paradise with many/most roads having dedicated cycle paths, and we could have hired bikes through the apartment if we have wanted to. The beaches at Le Bois Plage were lovely, and we found a little market at Porte de Re which had the most wonderful sun dried tomatoes being prepared there and then. In the evening we dined at the Bistro du Marin, on Patrick's recommendation, which was excellent, and then at A Cote de Chez Fred, which is a fantastic little restaurant up an alley off the Port.
