Auberge De La Vallée

We stayed at Auberge Cocagne spur of the moment in early July. Nadine was helpful over the phone as I asked questions in imperfect French. We took the bus to LeVigan and walked to Aveze, happy to find a glass of Sangria offered on our arrival. The next day Nadine helped us order a taxi to Cirque de Navacelles, from where we spent the day walking the 12 miles back to the auberge, and an even more welcome pitcher of water and glass of Sangria. The dinners were wonderful. If we'd had another day I'd have begged a few hours in the kitchen with Jean-Marc. I don't have a deep understanding of sauces, but since dipping my bread into my husband's sauce au poivre vert, served over beef, I have put some effort into duplicating it. The outdoor dining area lent itself to friendly conversation between tables, another plus to our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable, and as expected in an elderly building, one-of-a-kind.
