Domaine Labattut

We stumbled on this through a booking website and chose it because of the lovely, peaceful grounds and the fact that it offered a suite with two separate rooms. This is a chateau that has apparently been lived in intermittently by its owner for some time (rather than having been converted into a 'B&B') so it retains the feel of being a guest in some grand although slightly ageing historic house. The rooms are huge and for the most part beautifully furnished. There is a communal sitting room and a pool (snooker) room on the ground floor which were comfortable enough although with more than a hint of damp. We were completely unable to operate the smart TV, but that was probably just us being hopeless rather than anything faulty. Another plus was that Guests are able to use the vast kitchen (think Downton Abbey!) at any time to make tea and coffee. A couple living nearby manage it and they were both extremely helpful and friendly. They recommended a local restaurant a short walk away and kindly made reservations for us. There's a pool in the grounds which was lovely - beautifully clean (and warm), set in a small enclosed garden area with the scent of lavender wafting over you as you swam. A definite step-up from my local municipal pool! The 'suite' was fine for us but consisted of two bedrooms and a bathroom with the second room off a corridor, so would possibly not be suitable for a family with smaller children who might get lost if they needed to find their parents room in the night.
