Amphore du Berry

Quirky, arty, beautiful, warm large house with internal pool. Lovely furnishings and objets d'art. Safe parking. Dog friendly. Pool available- bath robes and flip flops provided. Nice breakfast (evening meal offered). Big rooms with sofas, large comfy beds. The hostess is lovely and ever so obliging. We will return.

My wife, a friend of ours an I spent two nights at the Amphore du Berry. It was our second visit there. We had been at the Amphore two years ago and we decided to go back (even if this time our commitment was an hour driving from the Amphore) as we had a great time there during our first visit. The place is really "unusual", to say the least. My wife and I were given a beatiful bedroom, which included  a gym in addition to a very large bathroom with separate shower. A large swimming pool is available on the ground floor. Sylvie, our host, is very nice and friendly. She gave us a very warm welcome and prepared an excellent meal for us the night we arrived. Breakfast is quite simple but very good and Sylvie always ask whether you want that she cook something extra for you (e.g., eggs). In conclusion, I strongly recommend the Amphore du Berry as a base for visiting that part of France.

First, some advice. We booked early (and paid deposit) for 3 nights in September; when we arrived we were not expected until the following week. They admitted their mistake and gave us a very nice room in the lovely house. The advice - confirm bookings a few days in advance of arrival - advice I must take myself!
Apart from this, our stay here was excellent. Very friendly people, good evening meals, lovely indoor pool and a great base for visiting the surrounding area - lots to see.  Definitely another visit.

Everything at the Amphora was most enjoyable and charming. They even picked me up at the train station and dropped me off (which is @1 mile away). The pool was fun and the family was welcoming and happy to share meal-time. Parking is within their walls. Be prepared to pay in cash for your stay.

This is an interesting B&B in an 18th century(?) building with amazing decor. It's like being in a museum. The owners are friendly, but had very little English. The swimming pool was good.The B&B is located very close to the town and there is parking outside. The owners collected breakfast straight from the bakery (almost next door) so the bread and croissants were really fresh. Higly recommended.

Brilliant pool and lovely rooms. Its an old house so its laid out like a B&B rather than a hotel. Owners very friendly and even spoke a few words of English which was very much appreciated. Seen some reviews about the breakfast, but it was OK. Some fruit, hot chocolate, baguettes, orange juice, jam, coffee, cheese. If you need more there is a patisserie a few meters down the road.

Would recommend an upgrade on the towels, they were a bit scratchy.

We stayed here on our way back. The owner was excellent. What a great person. The building is dated and a bit messy. But our room was perfectly clean. The amenities are old. But ok. And you must be wary that the dogs, cats and chicken walk freely on the grounds which could sometimes leave something behind. But it did not bother us. If you don’t like animals, find something else. For one night an ok stay!

Nice B&B

Nice people, but it seems to be no cleaning done in this place. It was so dusty and unsanitary. It made the whole stay very uncomfortable. The pool also lacked maintainance, and did not look inviting. Sorry, wanted to like as it looks nice in the pictures, but it was just awful :(
