Chambres d'Hôtes Cal Miquel

We first came across this magical place in 2009, and returned again this year. The small hotel clings to the hillside looking over the village of Llo. The owner has converted a broken down farmhouse into a charming very small hotel. Rooms are very small and cat swinging is not possible. The owner/host cooks delicious locals dishes. These year there were five families around the table - two French, one Catalan, one Dutch and one English. This is an ideal centre to explore northern Catalunya including Andorra. Incidentally - we discovered the hotel whilst going to the thermal baths - but on the advice of the owner we then went to St Thomas les Bains - which was much, much better, nestling in a gorge on the Perpignan road. The Cather castles are also not too far. We we most certainly return again and again.
