Le Vieux Vauvert

The property sits across the road from the main river running through the area, and is larger that just about anything back home. At the back of the property are high cliffs with houses and more cut into them. It was interesting to get the history of these places and that people still lived there. The road outside is busy in patches but we had plenty of parking and it was easy to get out onto the road. The Tourist Office was just up the road which provided a great reference point to get information on the local area. We found Da Vinci's last home and a number of flea markets nearby The road is also home to a number of wine stores and brilliant restaurants, where we spent a chunk of time, service and food just dreamy. The property has large garden areas which we sat in and had dinner one night and just relaxed in. The variety of plants is stunning and the rose collection huge - note that the owner makes rose jam and other treats which you sample as part of breakfast and can buy to take with you. I had to get more funds out as partner bought plenty. Beds were comfortable and warm.There was room to move around in the rooms and showers were hot. We all had a pile of bags but still load of room in the units. Each unit opens onto the gardens but has a recessed entrance for privacy. Breakfast was served in the main room in the house and was excellent. Plenty of juice, coffee, tea, pastries and fruit. In fact even more than we could eat. The host and partner are proud of the place and it shows. We were able to spend time with them and also get to know their kids who were just full of beans. Ticked all the boxes and price was under what I had expected and very reasonable.. How to judge a place? - I felt welcomed, I was comfortable and I would definitely stay there again.
