Very nicely decorated cave, authentic, nice breakfast. Perfect host which is superfriendly and there to help you it with all your questions! Only "negative point" is that there is no private parking spot.

Stopped off here for one night to break up the journey from Caen to Bergerac and I wish we’d stayed longer. It is an excellent location just along the Loire from Tours. Staying in a cave room is a fantastic and unusual experience - the space is fantastically well appointed and comfortable too in a lovely garden setting.

Special mentions for the warm welcome from the host who looked after my wife, small baby and I wonderfully (a cot was provided) plus an absolutely sensational breakfast in the morning.

Could not recommend the place highly enough for a short stop off or longer stay exploring g the Loire.

We stayed with Valerie at Les Troglos de la Tufoliere between Christmas and New Year. The room in the cave was wonderful, it was warm and very comfortable.  Valerie helped me out with my French which was great.  The breakfast was amazing and delivered to our room.
The room is decorated with some great, quirky items and is fantastic.  The area is stunning, and we will return to visit some more chateau's.  Oh, and to go back to the wine tasting in Vouvray again!

We arrived in the late afternnoon at were greeted immediately by the owner who was friendly and welcoming. We had come by car and were able to park directly outside the accomodation. There is a limit to the amount of parking but we were able to find a space ok. The rooms are actually caves and open plan but they are delightful. Very well fitted out, comfortable bed, good shower. We were there in November and the weather was cold and damp but the rooms were nice and warm and cosy. Excellent continental breakfast served by the owner. There are only 2 rooms (caves) and as we were holidaying with family we were using both. Very pleasant one night stay.

Stayed for 2 nights in a very spacious room. The bed was comfortable and the facilities were good. It was very clean. A small bar fridge would be great for those of us collecting wine around the region. 

Our host Valerie was lovely. The breakfast was good also with breads, preserves, croissants, tea/coffee/juice. 

There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance and a couple of wine caves with wine tasting/buying. It is a little far from Tours but we caught a bus for a few euro (taxi was about €24). 

Car parking was just up the road and we didn't have a problem finding a park when we were there.

We would stay here again.

We stayed two nights here and enjoyed our  time here very much.  Our Host lady was unbelievable and her understanding of English was fantastic. We were given directions to  the local area which we really appreciated.

An Amazing Stay in a Cave room

So.... First the good things. The room was neat. It is a cave and the decorations are very nice. Looked like the photo. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was okay. No shower curtain or door so you tend to flood the place when you take a shower.  That's about it for the good stuff. The room is incredibly damp and cold. There is a de-humidifier in the room and it fills up quickly. The worst part was that you have to leave the doors open during the day so that the room can air out and not get all drippy on you for the evening. This allows the two cats on the premises to wander into your room, lay on you bed and pillows and then when you sleep, bang! allergy time. It was not a good thing. I got very sick right at the beginning of our trip because of the dampness and the cats. The breakfast was very basic and simple and was, to be honest, the worst one of the whole trip. Croissant, baguette, jam, yogurt. That was it. And on top of all that, the owner wasn't even around. She met us, was very nice, then said that she had to go to school and we wouldn't see her again. A neighbor came over to give us what breakfast there was. The de-humidifier in both rooms filled up and we had to empty them ourselves. For what I was paying for these two rooms, I didn't see why I had to do that. Should have been done every day by the owners. Towels never dried. Clothes was always damp. If all these things don't bother you and you like cats, then this is the place to go. Otherwise, there was plenty of other places in the area to book where you don't have to deal with such damp conditions....

If allergic to cats, don't stay here....

We arrived at the property and had to wait 25 minutes for the gate to be opened to get into the property. Were then told we could not park the car inside the gates until we came back later in the evening. Taken to the cave room and found it damp with no ventilation. The temperature outside was 28C. Manager told us the only way to get ventilation was to sleep with the outside door open to the public. We refused to do that because that idea was completely unacceptable. It is our view that the property should not be let until proper damp proofing and ventilation is fitted as with other caves nearby. We left the property and booked in elsewhere. We have demanded our money back.
