Room was good with a comfortable bed and a view of the river. Owner was very helpful. He let us put all our motorbikes in the garage so they were safe; not that I would imagine any likelihood of them being stolen given the area. This is a very tranquil place and the breakfast was good. My fault, I should have checked they had facilities for meals other than breakfast.  There were no cafes  nearby so we had to get taxis into Sedan.

Until January 2013 the Auberge du Port was a family run hotel, ideally situated beside the river Meuse, surrounded by fields, and with a gourmet restaurant and charming staff.
Alas ! It is now called L'Atlantide, and has been taken over by new owners who appear to have no experience of running a hotel. Although the accommodation is unchanged, the reception and restaurant area has been remodeled to provide a 'Bistrot' and a separate 'Gourmet Restaurant'. When we stayed in July (our 5th visit in as many years) the 'Gourmet Restaurant' was in darkness, the 'Bistrot' served by a girl who told us that as we were staying in the hotel we were only offered the 'menu d'etape' which consisted of a sausage and vegetables. White wine was put on the table but not poured, and we had to ask for an ice bucket - this on a day when the temperature approached 30 deg C.! We later saw her going to serve another table with two bottles of wine under her arms and her hands full of glasses. Not the sort of service one expects in a decent hotel.
Breakfast consisted of two very small bread rolls, two small pastries, and a single packet of jam, 
We shall certainly not return, and deeply regret the retirement of the previous owners.

A change for the worse

The hotel's new owners are clearly making an effort to improve this tired hotel in a pleasant riverside location. We were part of a motoring group who were pre-booked into the hotel for 2 separate nights on a trip to and from the Alsace. 
We had 16 rooms booked but on the first night, reception was a shambles; rooms, although clean, were very dated and gloomy; dinner was a comedy event with confusion over orders; also, they ran out of draught beer even though it was clear the hotel had not been very busy recently. That being said, the quality of the food, when it arrived, was quite good and the breakfast buffet has a very good selection of cold meats and pastries. The staff were friendly and made an effort but from the management down clearly lacked the right level of hotel experience.
On our return visit, reception was better organised, so clearly they were making an effort to improve. Drinks on the terrace were accompanied by freshly baked cheese straws and this time the beer flowed all evening! 
Given time this could be a good hotel because the staff clearly want to please and the kitchen can produce good food, but I don't think we will be making a return visit to find out how they get on.
