Clos des Saveurs

We rented the villa the first week of May, 2016 with three other couples. The villa is located in the small town of Gensac, between St. Emilion and Bergerac, in the Bordeaux region of France. The owners Barbara and Johathan were delightful and full of ideas on places to visit. Our travel agent arranged for them to prepare Sunday lunch for us as well as maid service three hours each day. The meal was fantastic, complete with several choices of wine and dessert. The villa price included full use of the property - full kitchen, two eating areas, den and four en-suite bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms were suites with a large bedroom and bathroom. The other two bedrooms were average size, but with nice bathrooms. We stayed in Room 1 with the canopy bed. It was great sleeping with the windows open and listening to the sounds of the birds in the morning. There was a huge closet in the bedroom and lots of storage shelves in the bath. Free wi-fi was available throughout the villa. There are several places to sit outside as well as an outdoor pool. We took advantage of the sitting areas each afternoon, but didn't use the pool as the weather was still a bit cool. There's not much to do in Gensac, but there were several nice places to eat and a great grocery store. We traveled in different directions each day and enjoyed sightseeing in Bordeaux (1 hr), St. Emilion several times (30 min) and Bergerac (40 min). There were also many interesting villages to visit and lots of wineries in the region. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy some local wine, this is the place to stay. Barbara and Johathan also rent the villa on a B & B basis.
