Hôtel du Berry

This is the perfect hotel for a solo traveler or an economy family trip. The hotel is just half a block from the FRONT door to the train station on Ave General de Gaulle. My single room has a small balcony to hang clothes to dry and is immaculate. The bed is really comfortable and the water is hot and it has a small desk and good reading lights. Perpignan is a nice little town with some really good restaurants, fun little squares to people watch, pretty little canal, and nice medieval buildings. The town has everything you could want with some nice stores, banks, and good tabacs with phones and SIM cards. Here are my two favorite places to eat: Le Petit Moka on Place de la Republique has really good French food with prices from 5 to 13 euros. It was full of locals. And Artapas is a fun Spanish tapa place. Walk down Ave General de Gualle, cross the plaza to Ave Clemenceau and walk down about a block or two. It is fun, has an outdoor seating area and is open late. I had a delicious salad chicken, olives, lettuce, tomato and green apple. The beer Ovalie was good too. Tomorrow I will take the tourist train up the mountains to the border with Andorra. Perpignan is a great place to chill out, enjoy the culture, people watch and come back to a comfortable room at the Hotel du Berry. The host is really nice. And the wifi works really well. There is a large supermarket under the train station in a new shopping center so you can easily find your room snacks, picnic lunch and a bottle of water right near the hotel. People are friendly and helpful.
