We had one night in Parthenay at the Hotel Du Nord. Parthenay has a beautiful historic quarter and is well worth a visit. The hotel could do with an upgrade of the rooms which were A bit tired and old fashioned but the restaurant was very good and is recommended if you are in Parthenay.

We were travelling back from La Rochelle, and stopped for an overnight stay at this hotel.
Parthenay itself is a little bit sad, but there was a music festival in the town which brightened our stay. The old ancient area is the best.
However, Hotel Du Nord, can be described as excellent. It is a typical country Logis, and our room, no 1 was fine. Nice size, comfortable, clean, good bathroom, but the shower was a problem.
The people were great, very welcoming, and the dining experience is one not to miss. Do not consider eating elseware.
The breakfast, held in the bar was good, not to much choice, but beautiful bread and jams, nice coffee and tea.
The owners could not be more helpful.
If you are passing Parthenay, this is the place to either stay, or eat.

EXCELLENT

A bit run down but excellent restaurant

We arrived earlier than expected but a room was ready. Room 1.
Staff were very friendly. The room was very quiet,  twin beds, no air conditioning and the room was very stuffy. shower over bath was fine except nothing to stop water going everywhere.  No shower curtain ..
The bath lost the water down the hole even though plug was in place. 
A pleasant walk to center of town and across the road from the bus station.  
Gastronomic food was described but what we got was a comfy hearty home styled cooked meal. The real chef must have been on holiday.  
The outside area for drinking was pleasant as was the inside bar. The restaurant area was clean and the waitress was helpful explaining the menu. Wifi was really non-existant this place is overpriced for value for money.

Overpriced for what's on offer

Staff every friendly, but some much needed TLC. Unable to comment on the restaurant, as closed Saturday and Sunday night ! Beds comfortable but basic, you get what you pay for. Historic quarter well worth a visit, peaceful town, in September.

Needs an upgrade....

Try not to eat in the restaurant also the rooms not very clean ,tv in room not working I would not recommend this hotel but the old town very beautiful with some good restaurant's .the new town has a good supermarket
