Le Village Montmartre by Hiphophostels

We are complete newbies with regards to 'hostels' and this could have been a disaster. In preparation, I did pay for a superior double room with private bathroom! The location was excellent, just in the area that we love and so close to Montmartre and basically at the bottom of the Sacre Coeur! We were early to arrive, but checked in and left our luggage with the lovely girl on reception, then went for a wander. We returned later and Alex gave us our luggage and offered a couple of different rooms which was great. (I think we're a bit old for a roll top bath in the middle of the room, so we opted for the private bathroom with shower ;) The hostel is located just at the bottom of Montmartre and the reception is in an open plan area with tables, chairs and comfy seats. There is a drinks machine where all the drinks are free until 10am! There are glasses, cutlery, bottle openers, toaster, microwave, etc for anyone to use. On the first floor there is a terrace with outdoor seating, swing chair and has a great view of the Sacre Coeur. There is a small lift to the rooms, so you don't have to take the little wooden spiral staircase, but you do need to see that, it's lovely with all the open beams. The building has a lovely traditional feel to it. Our room was small, but comfortable with great views again. A good shower, nice lighting and a comfortable bed! There was a breakfast served in the morning (included in our booking) which was croissants, bread, jams, orange juice and hot drinks. Small, but enough to get you going and it's all self service. There are two supermarkets within 10 metres of the hostel where you can buy supplies and G20 has hot food to go, such as chicken, potatoes, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we sat on the terrace and had a bottle of wine, chatted to a few guests (hostel vibes we assumed) and had a great evening. We slept really well, enjoyed the breakfast and checked out with the same lovely girl on reception to continue our holiday. We definitely recommend and we would book another hostel too as it's so friendly and chilled.
