VVF Montpeyroux Auvergne, Parent

A beautiful location, easily off the main highway (as we drove through France and onto Spain) and in the hills with great scenary. We stayed with a child and a dog. The villas are like a kind of Butlins, they are clean but basic, with a balcony and we have a side room with a single bed for the child. The whole site is on a hill, so people with mobility problems might need to ask for a suitable room, but the stairs and slopes just added to the view. We ate dinner at the restaurant, which was a set menu with a help yourself to wine, salads, bread which was buffet style. Everything was in French and some staff spoke English, but together with my basic level of French and Google translate, we worked out what we wanted and ordered. The staff were really friendly, patience and worked hard. The food was delicious and the service was great. Breakfast was buffet and typical continental, tasty and plenty of it. It has outdoor seating, a games room with a football table, a bar, a sofa area and tele. It has regular games and activities run by the staff everyday and I have the feeling people came here for more than just a night. It was full of children, had a lovely swimming pool, play area, tennis court and volleyball pitch. My husband went for a run into the hills which was stunning. The room was everything we needed and the price was good (booking.com £69). The only thing that could have improved it was some kind of ventilation, there was no window that opened and it was a hot humid night, so we slept with the door open. We were on the ground floor with the balcony leading to the pool (people walking past all the time). It would have felt a little unsafe had we not had the dog. But overall a very enjoyable stay, easy, clean and just what we needed to keep dog and child happy.
