L'Hostellerie des Lacs

This is what I consider to be an authentically French place, with an owner who speaks excellent English, German, Spanish and Malay! “Phil the French” (Philipe Le Francois) kept the Restaurant open for our slightly late dinner arrival (8:20pm) and we ate excellent fish and good curry on a lovely sun terrace overlooking the lake and the trees. Philips’s hospitality is genuine, and he is amazingly well travelled, so there is great local and travel related wisdom right here on tap. The room’s windows let in the sounds of nature in the morning and ours (room 8) was massive, so we could open the panniers and reorganise things at our leisure. Philipe reminded us that the hot water is also French, as it takes a while to come through but when it arrives, it is everything you need. Breakfast is croissant, bread, coffee and cereal if you wish. Proper French. Thanks Phil.
