Hotel Helios

Hotel Helios is a good price-value hotel. Hotel is located near the beach, only 2 minute walk. Carnon is a quiet village, not much to see, but excellent to relax. It's build around a harbor with some shops and bars,... The rooms are basic, (we had a kitchenette) but very good and functional. A spotless bathroom, but a shower which is rather smal. The area surrounding the hotel is silent, so you can sit in tranquility on the terrace, which has also a good size. We took breakfast in the hotel the first morning we arrived, and it's good. Everything you have is there, and the staff is always present to serve you. Also, at the reception, they take the effort to speak english, which is always appreciated! We traveled by train to Montpellier-Carnon, and it's a bit difficult to get there. First you have to take a tram (aprox 30min) and then a bus (aprox 5min) to get to the hotel.(but not expensive at all) So, a car might be useful to get around in the area. There's not much to see in the area, but we took the bus to Aigues-Mortes (about 50min away) and there was a lot more to see. But, you can get out of there :-) The swimming pool is right in front of the hotel, and of good size. Most of the time we were alone at the pool, but as I said, it's really quiet. The beach is also very near, a 2-min walk to a seperate door, which is only accesible for hotel guests. The parking is also closed during the late-evening and night, which is also good. We went at the end of the season, and we noticed this when we got out for dinner. There are many bars, resto's opened during the day, but when you get there in the evening (around 8pm) most of this is closed. Still, there are restaurants opened, but on our last evening we were really searching for something to eat (but we didn't go to the same restaurant twice..) After all, the hotel was very good, we really enjoyed our stay here, and we would defenitely go back there!
