On December 27 2016, we stayed and dined in Hotel/Restaurant le 8 in Mandelieu La Napoule, which is close to Cannes. What a wonderful place! While the owner had planned to be closed in preparation of upcoming renovations, she changed her mind and offered us a lovely room for a decent price. We had the family room, with a queen bed and two bunk beds. The mattress was quite hard, but then, this is Europe. The bathroom is worth mentioning: it was small, yet had a smart layout so that it looked bigger and was very easy to access. The shower was great. Everything was done with a good eye for detail and beauty. The restaurant was open, and we dined in French refinement. Anyone who wishes to get a good taste of true French cooking, goes to this place. Affordable and delicious. We had escargots as a starter (shared), husband had "tartare" (raw meat, very well prepared), one daughter had steak with homemade fries, and other daughter and myself an excellent trout. The desserts were to die for. Good wine, special herbal teas. Everything was great. The owner served us; she was very polite and forthcoming. Hotel/Restaurant le 8 is an independent, family-run hotel. The owners must care deeply for their business, for their commitment speaks from every detail. Highly recommended.
