Le Moulin du Gastronome

Trip to the South of France in late June. This was a good distance from Calais leaving the final leg south with only a short hop to get past Lyon. We arrived in good time mid afternoon after 440 miles. There was a large lunch party leaving so the car park emptied and this bode well that it was dealing with large numbers of locals. We got shown our room which was the family suite, didn’t need so much space but hey it was a holiday! Nice room, facing out the rear over the pool. Time for an afternoon drink and Yannick the front of house chief advised us on a suitable local Cremant. We had booked dinner, Yannick explained the restaurant is a busy destination in town (the hotel is about half a mile from the centre but no reason to leave tbh). At the appointed hour we had dinner and the room was indeed full, serious eating/gastronomic with a good and large wine list with three at least dedicated wine units in view in reception. Tres bien! I took Yannick’s suggestion for a red with dinner as my choice would have been too heavy for this dish and it was a favourable price by comparison. Excellent dinner and bed, talking of which our four poster bed was good, as was the aircon and electric blackout blinds. Breakfast was the usual simple French style of bread/pastries etc and we were on our way. Mentioned the hotel to a Belgian chap at our hotel in South of France as having seen the food pictures/location he was interested for his annual pilgrimage too. Likely to use this again next year!
