Apart'Observatoire Saint Jean

This is our third stay with Beatrice and Pierre.  Previously we stayed in the Cote Ouest apartment but decided we wanted a little more room this time and opted for the Cote Sud instead. 

We loved our new apartment. The view of the Cathedrale St Jean and square from the living room are absolutely breathtaking.  

The apartment is located in charming Vieux Lyon and is very close to local attractions and the metro.  

Beatrice is a warm and wonderful hostess, and the apartment is beautifully appointed and comfortable.  

Lyon is quickly becoming home to us, and we do hope to settle there soon, but as long as we continue to just be vacationers, there is no other place for us than staying with Beatrice at one of her lovely apartments.  Highly, highly recommended!

This is a beautiful, charming apartment in the nicest neighborhood in Lyon. The place is perfect for a couple. It looks over Place St Jean, which is an active square in the heart of Vieux Lyon, and the views of the cathedral are stunning. Beatrice was super helpful with everything we needed.

If you plan to spend most of your time in old Lyon, this is a place to consider. It's only about a block from Place St. Jean. You can walk to all the major sites or use the nearby subway stop if you prefer. The apartment has great views and one of the best wifi connections we've had while traveling. There are 3 problems - it is hard to find since the street is pedestrian only so the taxi has to leave you out a block away. The street numbers are erratic and hard to see. I finally texted Beatrice who sent her husband to help us. She also mentioned that it was the first blue door on the left past the cathedral. Having this information in the initial contact would have been most helpful. The second problem is that the WC is on the 1st level and the bedroom is up a steep flight of stairs. So, if you need the WC in the middle of the night you have to be very careful. Third, the ceiling in the small sitting room is so low that we couldn't stand up in it so we didn't use it. That said, the bed was comfortable and the bedroom nicely decorated. The shower (off the bedroom) was nice and hot water plentiful.

Beatrice gave us a very informative introduction to Lyon on our arrival. The four of us in our party spent a week and found the apartment an ideal base from which to explore the varied delights Lyon has to offer. We visited old and new parts of the city and were never short of interesting places to eat. We would happily return as we felt we had only just started to get to know the city.

Apartment with great location in old Lyon

Charming apartment, fantastic location

In April 2018, I booked for myself and a friend to stay in Cote Oest in June 2018 for 4 nights. My booking was confirmed and I paid a deposit via Paypal on 15 April. However on 2 May the owner informed me that she had made a mistake and Cote Oest was not available. However she had another apartment in the same building that was available for 3 of the 4 nights that I had booked Cote Oest. She said it was bigger than the original apartment and it was 'also a very charming place'. It was offered to me at a rate that was 15 Eu less per night. As I had already paid a deposit I accepted her suggestion and agreed to stay in the alternate apartment for 3 nights. Foolishly I did not ask to see photos of the alternate apartment and I should have. It was definitely not charming. It was barely furnished and was very rough. Although it had 2 bedrooms, you had to walk through one of them as you entered the apartment (and the mattress was on the floor) and the other bed was on an open mezanine. The kitchen and bathroom were very average, the windows barely shut properly and the WIFI did not function well at all and when it did was very slow. On our first night because the owner was not at home, we were not able to get access at all to the apartment till 5.30pm. Excessive noise from neighbours kept us awake until 3am on the first night and when I complained to the owner she was very unhelpful. My advice to others is that if you find yourself in a situation where you have booked and paid a deposit for either Cote Sud or Cote Ovest and then find that there is a problem with your booking and you are offered an alternative apartment - DON'T TAKE IT!
