Flower Camping Les Ilates

The homeflower cabin was good quality and plenty big enough for a family of 4.  Had a small kitchen and lovely outdoor decking and seating.  We booked a private hot tub too which was lovely.  The site had a large pool with slides and plenty of space for sunbathing.  Small sports pitch,petanque, table tennis and playarea for kids.  The restaurant on site was excellent and popular with locals.  Reception very helpful.  Recommend it for a family holiday.
Local village very pretty with market and shop and cafes.
Perfect location to cycle from to explore the area.
2 downsides: the wifi wasn't very good but there were a lot of cabins to provide for!  No dim lamps in the cabin, all bright lights.  Minor problems though!

This was the third time we have visited Les Ilates, and each time it’s getting better and better. 
The reception staff are very helpful, and obviously think carefully about plot allocation, as they create small social communities all over the site. 
The bar and restaurant staff are simply awesome. They are friendly polite and happy to chat. They allow us to practice our poor attempts at taking their language, and help us along. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and our regular supplier of Fries (Mr “Ducati-Chef”) was a real star.
The site is clean, and well maintained. The camping pitches are large. The toilet and showers are kept very clean. The entertainment is varied - it might not be to everybody’s taste, but it’s fun, and that’s what this site is all about. 
This was supposed to be our last visit to this site, but as we left we found ourselves planning for next year. With a 16yo in our family, this speaks volumes. 

Had a lovely stay! Loved the pool, bouncy castle and park, plenty for the kids to do!

Loix village centre is lovely for getting some supplies in, I wouldn't recommend getting things from the shop or restaurant on site because we found this very expensive. We went with Eurocamp and the lovely couple who dealing with the Eurocamp guests were very friendly and helpful. 

All in all I would stay again, the pool area is very clean and so we're the mobile homes and bathrooms on site.

Staff very helpful. Shout out to Ryan who helped us find a Gaz bottle to replace ours. 
The swimming pool was all mine for the two days we stayed here. Marvellous! Shame it doesn’t open until 10.00am.

We booked three nights to have some R&R.

The site is situated a little away from the main tourist areas. But only a kilometre or so from the village and its shops and restaurants.

The WiFi was free and allowed us to keep in touch with relatives back home and watch a little TV.

We hired bikes one day and one with a trailer. 

The only downside was the restaurant/bar being closed at short notice. It would have been nice to have "eaten out" one night.

Although the site is dog friendly and provide a dog shower, the island's beaches are the opposite. 



Stayed here in our caravan for 10 days in July. The site was pretty busy but didn’t feel overly crowded. It’s mainly statics/pods with a smaller area for tents and tourers. Our site looked an ok size til we put our caravan and awning on it - we could have squeezed the jeep in but it would have left nowhere to sit in the sun, so we parked in the limited space outside on the road. Toilets and showers were fine except the ladies regularly ran out of loo roll (bring your own). The takeaway food was good enough and reasonably priced. The shop was extortionate - definitely only for emergencies!! The site is in a great location for the nearby beaches and for accessing the miles of cycle paths. I would stay here again, maybe just request a bigger pitch.

Had a lovely week!!

Good place to stay to view the rest of the island

We stayed here with eurocamp and had a mobile home, we normally prefer a tent but they didn't have any on site. The accommodation was great for our needs and a refreshing change not to have to leave our accommodation to go to the toilet or shower! Having stayed on other campsites on our trip this one offered all the facilities but lacked any charm. It didn't have much greenery and it felt very open and offered no privacy. The pool is a good size though and no fighting for sun beds. The shop is tiny but there is a spa in nearby Loix, which is a charming little village. I would definitely visit the area again but maybe not this campsite. 

Great facilities but a bit bland

Firstly, the positives. 
The location is fab, if a little remote and Loix is the loveliest small village imaginable (the bread and the pastries in the local patisserie are to die for).
Our pitch was excellent, secluded but right beside the centre of activities.
However.
The staff couldn’t care less and there does not seem to be anyone in charge.
As we arrived after hours (8pm on a Saturday), there was nobody there to let us in. There was a basket on the windowsill, with envelopes with names on them, but no fob to raise the barrier. We had to ask one of the other residents to let us in.
I went to reception to ask for information about hiring a bike to be told that all the info I need is in my welcome pack (one leaflet).
There is no soap in the toilets. There is hand sanitiser at the door on the way out, but it was empty and when I mentioned it to reception, it took 24 hours to be replenished.
The animation is poor. We made our way back from a day trip to be there for our daughter to go to the pool party at 3pm. She came back after 5 minutes, as the pool party consisted of a member of staff playing music and sitting there.
The staff join in the activities, but not to help. They participate in the bingo (which you have to pay for) and compete for the prizes.
We went to the karaoke. Our daughter put her name down and we sat there for 2 hours, whilst the off duty staff sang for each other’s amusement, taking up the seats at the front and copping off with each other. My daughter never got her turn.
Events are cancelled without notice, so if you make plans to go, then tough. 
The food is overpriced and of a poor quality (i.e. pizzas with minimal toppings for €15 to €17, Planche tapas chaud for €18 which consisted of the cheapest frozen supermarket onion rings, mozzarella sticks etc.). 
The kitchen staff seem overloaded and the waiting staff prioritise their smoke breaks over serving the customers. We had more than one occasion where drinks that were ordered did not arrive.
I’d love to go back to Ile de Ré but I’ll spend my money elsewhere in future.

The staff really let it down

Ile de re is beautiful.  Flowers Ilates leaves a lot to be desired however. Of all the sites we’ve stayed whilst travelling france (7) this is undoubtedly the most basic. The pool is fine and there are things on site to keep the kids entertained - bouncy castle/park. Location is pretty good, but we had a bike and a car so we were not restricted. 
However, the campsite fell short on numerous areas. Please bear with me as I explain. 
The pitch we were given was far too small for the caravan - slightly confusing as there were people in tents with very large corner pitches!? The staff explained that the site was fully booked and that was very much the end of it! thanks to the numerous other residents (not staff!) we got the caravan in on an angle. 
The toilet block needs a thorough revamp to say the least. It’s really quite grim, definitely the worst we experienced throughout our 4 weeks travelling. It’s unclean. There a 3 toilets (one of those 3 is disabled). One of the 3 would always be out out of order. The flush button was missing on the other, it was just the exposed mechanics on the wall, you get the picture. 
The washing machine is €6 per wash, the issue being that it only accepts €2 coins. Dryer is €4, again only accepts €2 coins. There is not cash point. Reception sometimes had change for a note but not always. On all the other sites they operate either by card or a token system so this was just an annoying inconvenience.  
I wanted to rent a bike and was told there were none available - I asked the staff about the rows and rows of bikes next to reception and were told they were electric - they weren’t electric, and I’m not an expert on these things ! The other lady in reception followed me out and told me they had the exact same confusion yesterday and gave me the details of where they went in Loix for rentals. Still don’t know what all those spare bikes are for… 
The final straw was when we returned from a 1 hour bike ride to find an unbelievably rude note stuck to the awning from ‘the direction’. It’s stated, ‘thanks for looking after your pet. Pets are not made to spend all day, in the Sun, without water, disturbing the neighbours. Thank you for making any necessary adjustments’. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it! Please let me make clear, beyond doubt, that our beloved dog had been walked, was left surrounded by shade, he had a bowl of water and he was left for ONE hour -  he would not keep up with the bikes in midday heat (he’s 12!). I asked about the note at reception, corrected all the inaccurate information stated and asked what they preferred residents did with their pets, I was unable to leave him in the caravan/awning as it would be FAR hotter…In short, no response. In all honestly I would have complained about the letter further but I was acutely conscious of the fact that we were going to need a lot of help to get the caravan out the pitch at the end of our stay and (heaven forbid) this would require staff input!!!
Sorry for the long review - Definitely visit Ile de re, but take my word for it: there are far better sites to enjoy your stay.

There is better out there

Booked a motorhome pitch with private facilities.  A deposit of 150EUR was taken. This is usually held in pending and returned at the end of the visit (assuming the facilites have not been damaged).  The facilities were awful, flooded and smelt so bad we could not use them.  We received a visit first night from the receptionist to say that he had made a mistake and the deposit had gone through our bank instead of sitting in pending. He asked me to visit reception the next morning to get this sorted.  Next morning after some puzzlement they tried to refund the deposit but couldn't do it on my credit car so asked for my bank details.  We also got moved but not until after another night on the pitch.
At the end of our stay, more puzzlement at reception about our refund that had not been refunded into our bank but eventually assured that it had all been passed to head office.
Emails to head office and to the site resulted in the site asking for more information before it could be paid (international bank details) which I sent on the same day.
I have written to the site and to head office - nothing.  Head office have never responded, the site now does not do so either.   We left this site on FRIDAY 21 JUNE - we have still not received or heard from the site with any updats.
