Camping Domaine de l'Orée 4*

Our first time to travel to France on family holiday, stayed here for 10 nights, booked it on basis of good reviews online. Very family friendly as has one of the best waterparks in site in the area. Was quiet at night and security on site in the evenings, campsite is split into two parts divided by a minor road, most of the touring pitches are in the rear site, was probably quieter than the front part. Only negative is the pitch was very small for our 6 berth touring Caravan and awning. We had about 2 feet to spare along side of pitch with awning up. If booking advise to specifically request a large pitch. Very few English speakers on site which we didn't mind, other travellers were friendly and washing facilities were clean. Activities for kids are on site but in French only. Great location right on the Vendee velo cycle track and near to Sables dOlonne by bicycle in one direction and 10 minutes on bike to Plage de Sauvterre one of the best beaches in the region. We had 1 damp day during our stay but weather around 21-22 degrees most days and up to 28 on a couple. Feels warmer than at home and get good colur even with those temperatures. Our kids were between 9 and 15 and ideal to keep them occupied. Recommend take canoe trip on salt marshes nearby (€40 for two 2 seater open top kayaks. also bring your bikes with you as miles of tracks off road and all are flat. Visit French market in Sables and Sunday market in Bretignolles Sur Mer which was excellent dozens of stalls. We have booked again for 2018, highly recommend.
