Hôtel de La Côte d'Argent

Stayed for a week after attending our son's wedding in Bordeaux and we just wanted somewhere to wind down near the beach. The hotel was ideal - right in the centre of town with a fabulous beach ( La Lede) just a few kilometres along the D25 toward Royan, with a huge free car park in the nearby forest. Hotel was great for the money - and the room was perhaps a little small, however we booked a Superior Double room and there was a lovely balcony overlooking the square where we sat every evening for pre- dinner drinks. Our hosts were charming, very friendly and helped us along with our French, but they spoke English as well. We had breakfast on the first morning which was brought to our room so that we could eat on the balcony. This was a nice touch. There was free parking all around the town including the square beside the hotel, but for me (as someone who is extremely fussy about where I park my car) the private hotel parking was ideal. This was underground and just across the road, and the spaces were huge, but limited so you need to book. So the car was secure at night and out of the sun by day. At eight euros per day this was worth every cent. All in all a very enjoyable stay. We will return. Just also worth mentioning the delightful pizza establishment Phare Ouest in the square nearby. We ate there three times. Great World Cup banter, and a big screen!
