Manoir de la Tête Rouge

Arriving a little earlier than we had expected we couldn't have wished for a warmer or enthusiastic welcome from the lovely smiling Sophie. Our room was large and comfortable with a nice attached decking area with table and chairs so we could sit outside. Breakfast every morning was a feast we looked forward too and enjoyed immensely, Sophies delicious homemade jams, pancakes and yogurts, and cheeses, brioche, lovely crusty bread, grape juice from their vineyards, a real feast! This is a working vineyard and Sophie and her lovely husband Guillaume are passionate about their excellent organically produced wines, a tasting is must and you can learn all about how the different soil types (terroir) contribute to all the wines and it is lovely to be able to take a box (or 2!!) home to drink with memories of a wonderful holiday. Sophie is an excellent cook and cookery writer, do ask her about her delicious cremet d'anjou, an ancient recipe she has taken to her heart, we had a fascinating and entertaining little cookery lesson too! This is a very special family who really go out of their way to make you feel and home and take back special memories of your holiday.
