Hôtel l'Ermitage

Our intention was to spend the afternoon in Le Puy-en-Velay but the place was heaving so we decided to see if we could check in to the hotel early and I was pleasantly surprised to find that we could. The chap on reception spoke very good English, much better than my French! He was very helpful and showed us to our room and demonstrated the controls for the shutters. The room was comfortable and clean and the bed was also most comfortable. I also liked the balcony and spent some time sat out there in the sunshine after lunch. The restaurant is separate from the hotel but we were still in time for lunch, in fact we chose this hotel because it had a restaurant and what a restaurant. English was spoken which was a great help when ordering. When we were visited there was a waiting on team of 4 who obviously worked well together and while very efficient were also pleasant and friendly. The meal was the best we have experienced in 24+ years of eating in France and that experience was repeated again when we went back for dinner. I would highly recommend the L'ermitage restaurant, the food is superb.
