We booked six rooms at this hotel, six months before a family wedding in the village. We are close relations of the bridal party and needed to be nearby. 

The new management / owner contacted us through booking.com to cancel the entire booking. Devastated, I called to ask why, I was told it was overbooked (it was empty when we first made the reservation).I told him our dilemma - he said we could have it but only if we booked all the rooms. I said yes, we could do that - confident we could find other wedding guests to fill the remaining rooms. He then said that if we wanted to stay there we would have to pay extra to use the pool "because other people will want to use it for yoga". I told him I didn't understand what he meant but that the pool wasn't hugely important to us - we would be at a wedding. He said he would ring me back to explain (he didn't). 

Very strange. Rude and unprofessional, in our opinion. The booking was then cancelled by the owner with no further communication from the hotel. 

I wrote a review on trip advisor about our bad experience, and the owner asked for it to be taken down due to "breach of policy". I was given a period of time to defend the review.  Unfortunately I didn't see this before it was taken down. So I am writing another review which should be honoured because it is absolutely true account of our bad experience. 

Be wary of this hotel. Most of the excellent review scores relate to experiences under the previous management.
