Camping Napoléon

We arrived at this camp site nestled amongst the Alpes over looking the valley town of Gap. We were given a very warm welcome by a beautiful spoken lady, whom explained we can choose our pitch and where the facilities were. Also very pleased they took the ACSI card for a discount off our stay. We found just the perfect pitch close to the pool and the bath/ wash room area. Level and a good space for the dogs with hard standing and lawn. Plenty of trees for shade too. The pool which was heated at the time we visited was perfect and the sun chairs around the area were comfortable . It also had a jacuzzi with resistance swimming - excellent! There was a beautiful restaurant ( we didn’t eat as had filled our freezer) so we just took ice creams daily. It was popular with locals as well as campers and family party there too( a little noisy that night). There’s a small shop selling souvenirs and artisan gifts and local produce. The gardens surrounding and the walks and bike rides were all lovely . The scenery is stunning. Gap is an interesting old town with a stunning cathedral and old church. Full of bars and restaurants ( we sampled one- GM) . The only downsides is the road noise a busy fast road that motorcyclists in particular like but this doesn’t bother us. The bathroom area is small only two toilets / two showers/ 1 sink inside and only 1 sink works outside for washing dishes etc. I think it might still be under renovation work though? They have many bungalows / chalets in the top area of the camp site they are for hire and would be lovely to book our family in there whilst we camp another time. The staff: the owners the chef the gardener were all fabulous and I was able to practice my French!
