Hôtel Julia

We love hotel Julia for it’s atmosphere. In my wife’s words: “it’s like a time-machine”. Especially the restaurant has the radiation of a traditional beach resort hotel, without any changes since the times people dressed for their dinners. In line with this style, the food is of a classical refined taste, not smashing in your face how good the cook is. It is served in a professional, friendly way. Formal, but without frills. The selection of fish wines is quite limited, forcing us to drink the same Sancerre two evenings which I enjoyed greatly. The hotel is located on side road, overlooking the town and the bay of Morgat, not on the boulevard along the beach. This is a big plus considering the crowds and the traffic there in the summer. The state of maintenance of some of the common spaces is a bit lacking, however easily forgiven considering the character of the hotel, and our ‘unrenovated’ room was in good order. A little mosquito hunt can be necessary but even that can be a joy at the right time (please don’t smash them into the wallpaper, fellow guests!). And the most important thing: we slept very well.
