L'Oustau de Mistral

One of the best B&B's we have stayed in France.  The owners were lovely, the room (with air conditioning) was superb,.  Only wish we had stayed longer than two days.  Breakfast in the magnificent gardens with flowers in bloom.  Close to Eyragues and 6kms from Saint Remy (lovely but full of tourists).  Lots of places to eat.

Fast internet via WiFi was hi speed in the garden as well as in the room..

Nine of us stayed for nine days with Marc and Christiane in their beautiful B&B and we left with tears,  vowing we would return in the very near future.  As you drive through the front gates, you are met with a view of the huge, stone home complete with periwinkle blue shutters, two massive trees in front providing shade over the outdoor breakfast table and an enormous pool sparkling invitingly.  The rooms were spacious, immaculate with large bathrooms.  The poolside fridge was for our use and we ate many lunches at Marc and Christiane's while watching the children swim.

With our hosts daily assistance we were able to plan reasonable day trips and then come back for a refreshing swim before heading into Eyragues or St. Remy (both lovely towns within minutes of the B&B) for dinner.  Christiane and Marc answered every question we had about sites to see and made invaluable suggestions that made our stay all the more enjoyable.

We went to sleep every night excited to get up for breakfast!  The coffee was so delicious that they sent us all home with a large pack (thank you!!).  There was fruit, fresh bread, croissants, yogurt, juice - needless to say we left full and ready to tackle the day!

What a beautiful place, loving, kind hosts - we will keep in touch and be back soon!

In June, my husband and I spent nine nights at L'Oustau de Mistral with Marc and Christianne.
This was by far our favorite B&B during our month in Provence.  L'Oustau is a historic stone farmhouse in the countryside but just 10 minutes from St. Remy de Provence.  Marc's family built the house in the mid-1860's.  Ten years ago Marc and Christianne totally renovated and modernized the interior while keeping the charm and grace of the original exterior.  There are four guest rooms, three large ones upstairs and one very large one (Nais) on the ground floor where we stayed.  All the rooms are spacious and light-filled, decorated in warm Provencal colors, and have very comfortable beds.  The bathrooms are quite large with double sinks and  glass-walled showers.
Right outside the house are two 150 year old plane trees that shade the whole length of the house.  Each morning there is  a delicious and very complete continental breakfast served at the tables under these trees.  There are fresh croissants and Fr. bread which Marc buys each morning from the town bakery. There is also yogurt, fresh fruit, cheeses, and sometimes meats. And, of course, coffee, juice, and tea.  The grounds are extensive, including a large swimming pool.  Each morning we drove off to explore the sites.  It was easy to reach Pont du Gard, Arles, Aix le Provence, Le Baux in 30 to 60 minutes.  St. Remy with its many restaurants was our place for dinner most nights.  However, if you want to buy roast chicken or order a pizza and have a picnic dinner at L'Oustau, Marc and Christiane help you with all the dinnerware  you need.
Finally, the most important part of a happy stay - the hosts.  There are often nice hosts at B&Bs, but Marc and Christianne are exceptional.  They are relaxed, welcoming, and sincerely friendly. They always look out for your comfort, offer help and information, but never hover.  When it came time to leave after our nine days, we felt we had become friends.  We plan to stay in touch with the Mistrals  and, hopefully, we will be able to visit them again in coming years.

We stayed in this beautiful B & B for 3 nights some time ago with my elderly mother. The owners and their friends made us so welcome and the rooms were perfect. Old world charm with the French feel. A beautiful setting in an old historic house. Can't recommend this place enough. I hope I will be lucky enough to go back some time.
